FUN IN THE SUN

Yesterday we went to Seven Peaks as a family. My Mom, also known around our house as Grandma Mick was able to come by for a couple of hours too. Braydan & I haven't been there since our senior trip in high school & Mom said she hasn't been since I was in middle school. Needless to say, it has changed somewhat since then. The girls were sooo excited & had lots of fun most of the time. There were a few moments that were filled with "kicking, screaming fits" but most of those were over what tube they wanted. (Next time we are getting two of the same kind for sure!!!)
Once we figured out how to deal with the tube issue, things were great. Both big girls loved, loved, loved the Tube Run. Dad was the favored parent to go with, so Brayd got to go down at least 10 times between the two of them. I don't think he minded at all.

We spent most of our time in the kiddie pool where Ainsley & Addison could practice their swimming & slide down the slides. There was a life guard on duty at the top of all the slides & each time Ains would reach the top she would wait for permission from the life guard to go. It was hilarious, especially if the life guard on duty wasn't paying attention. She would "patiently" sit there until the life guard noticed her & gave her the okay to head on down the slide. Sometimes there were 4 or 5 kids behind her confused as to why she wasn't going yet. She still waited for permission though. Those of you who know my sweet daughter know there is nothing "patient" about her (an unfortunate trait she inherited from me). I was really proud of her. She never lost her cool or layed into screaming at any of the life guards or kids (whew!!!). It was really cute actually. Each time she would sit down Braydan & I would look at each other & smile because she was being such a good girl.

Alivia had fun in the kiddie pool too. She is really the best baby ever. All the fun wore her right out though & she ended up sleeping about half the time. What a sweetheart!!
I'm sure the kids aren't going to let us get away with just one visit next year which will be just fine with us.

CRAZY FOR THE CABIN

Over the weekend Ainsley, Addison, Alivia, & I went to my Grandparents' cabin on Monroe Mountain. We went to celebrate my Great Grandpa Peterson's birthday, even though he passed away a few years ago. It became a tradition when I was a little girl to get together at Great Grandma & Grandpa's cabin the opening weekend of the bow hunt to celebrate this special occasion. Grandpa was a pretty remarkable man. During the last 25 years of his life he gradually started to go blind but that didn't stop him from going places & doing things. One of his favorite past times was carving wooden spatulas & spoons in his wood shop. He loved working with his hands. His other passion was Monroe Mountain. At one time, Grandpa & Grandma were the third biggest land owners on that mountain. They spent most of their summers there. He died a few weeks before his 98th birthday & he is the reason we continue to celebrate his birth every year. The "whole" family looks forward to it.
This year the big bash was at my Grandma & Grandpa's cabin so I went up early to help out. The girls had a blast. Ainsley & Addison are really good at talking anybody into pushing them on the swing, taking them on a treasure hunt, & getting them a treat. They successfully did this all weekend. Uncle C.J., Uncle Blaine, & Uncle Mike were their favorite people to play with. They were permanately attatched to those three.
At one point in the day, Uncle Blaine was hiding from the girls & scaring them. They had almost all 98 family members watching them. It was soooo cute!!!!

We can't wait to go back to the cabin. It is one of my favorite places on earth & I think it is becoming one of theirs.

BLESSING DAY

On Sunday, August 3rd Alivia Kay was given a name & a blessing by her Daddy. Braydan did such a wonderful job, as he always does. I was so proud of him & am so grateful that we have a faithful preisthood holder in our home. All of the family, except the Gladwell's, were there to celebrate this day with us. We sure did miss them. Thanks so much to everyone for all of your help, love, & support. There are so many people who love our little girl. We are truely blessed.

SHAW FAMILY REUNION

It's reunion time again! Every year Grandpa Wayland's family has a huge reunion at Bryant & Linda Mickelsen's cabin up Acred Lake. It's a great time to catch up on all sorts of things with everyone, eat good food, & play silly games. Plus it gives our family a good excuse to get out of the valley.

Ainsley & Addison headed straight for the giant sandbox as soon as we got there. It's one of their favorite things to do at the reunion. In fact, as we were getting on the freeway Addison yelled out, "Mom, I can see the sand box!" Braydan, Scott, & I just laughed because we weren't even close to our destination yet. I guess she must have been pretty excited. This year Grandpa & Grandma brought a couple of balls & all the kids in camp had fun with them too.

Jacy had gotten the bag of red vines out of her trailer & was sharing with everyone. Ainsley was pretty grateful & she just loves Jacy anyways. We had a great time & hope to stay longer next year.
